Our Work

‘Have a Voice’

Hull and East Riding Equality Network – Workshop
A key theme which HEREN members wish to address is the provision of services across the Hull and East Riding boundary. Our next workshop is to be held on Wednesday 11 January at 9.30 in the Farrington Room, Fenchurch Children’s Centre, Fenchurch Street Hull to discuss this the last meeting and and aim to identify some solutions.

‘Design Services’

ONE Humber works with other diverse community organisations to look at  where there are gaps in service provision and aims to develop projects to plug these gaps.

Some of our Work

Hull LGBT Social Network

The Hull LGBT Social Network, funded by Hull CCG, hosts various events and activities so that older LGBT residents can become more socially active. One Humber has set up a Hull LGBT Social Network for older LGBT residents in order to reduce social isolation in this community. The first event took place on Saturday 30 April 2016 and was a great success, and now we host monthly socials for the LGBT community. We  now host a monthly ‘Coffee and Cake’ in Hull. The next session is to be held on Sunday 4th Dec at 4ish. If you would like to join or attend future meetings please contact us or email info@onehumber.org or simply follow our Events page.

BME Mums Drop-In session

As One Humber works in partnership with Hull CCG, this time we have got something in store for our BME mums. This is now happening weekly, so come along! Make new friends, learn a language, get the support and information you need.

We will be joined by some great speakers next:

23 November ’16 – Esther Hallberg, Hull CC Museums Services;

30 November ’16 – Margaret Bashir, Hull CC Housing Team;

7 December ’16 – Cllr Helena Spencer, Hull CC.

If you have any questions, you can always find out more by emailing us at info@onehumber.org

‘Learn about Us’

One Humber provides a wide-ranging of training including;

Face to Face Sessions – bespoke to the needs of your organisation

  • Cultural Awareness (broadest sense)– this can include behaviours, perceptions, stereotypes and challenging discrimination or discriminatory language in the workplace.
  • Community Based – this can include sessions specific to a particular community, race or religion for example Lesbian and Gay community, Sikhism or Eastern European cultural norms.
  • International Days – this can include a range of countries being represented all under one roof and available to talk about their culture, language and other things which are specific to their country.
  • Legal Requirements for Organisations – covering topics such as Equality Act 2010 and Statutory Reporting of FGM

All sessions are confidential so that questions can be asked in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

We can and have developed e-learning packages which mirror the face to face sessions so that those who cannot attend those sessions can still learn the key principles.

We can also develop e-learning packages on a wide range of topics, which you believe may benefit your organisation.
